Pregnancy has a way of surprising you — and not just with the big stuff. For a lot of women, it shows up on their skin too. Breakouts where there never were any, dryness that won’t quit, puffiness, dullness, sensitivity out of nowhere. Hormones are doing a lot of heavy lifting, and your skin feels it.
So it makes sense that one of the questions we hear most often at Collab MedSpa is: Can I still get a HydraFacial?
The short answer is yes — with a few tweaks.
We Do HydraFacials on Pregnant Clients, But We Modify the Treatment
Pregnancy doesn’t mean you have to put your skincare on pause. It just means we approach things a little differently.
The main change we make is skipping the GlySal Peel that’s part of a standard HydraFacial. In its place, we might incorporate dermaplaning, a jelly mask, or a relaxing facial lymphatic treatment — all of which are gentle, effective, and much better suited for pregnancy.
If you’re interested in adding a booster serum, we’ll give you the full ingredient list so you can run it by your OB/GYN first. We’d rather take the extra step than skip it.
Why Your Skin Feels Different Right Now
If your skin has been acting unpredictably, you’re in good company. Hormonal shifts during pregnancy can bring on a whole range of changes — some welcome, some not so much:
- Breakouts (even if you’ve never had acne before)
- Excess oil or, on the flip side, dryness and dehydration
- Heightened sensitivity
- Puffiness and swelling
- Uneven tone or a kind of general dullness
Your skin is adjusting to a lot. What worked for you before pregnancy might not work the same way now, and that’s completely normal.
The Two Camps We Usually See
Over the years, we’ve noticed that pregnant clients tend to come in with one of two mindsets.
Some are hesitant to do anything — they’re worried that every product or treatment could somehow cause harm. Others are a little surprised to hear that pregnancy might mean changing up their usual routine at all.
The reality is somewhere in the middle. Pregnancy doesn’t mean swearing off skincare — it means being thoughtful about it. And there are genuinely great options out there, including a modified HydraFacial.
Why So Many Pregnant Women Love This Treatment
HydraFacial works well for a lot of people, but there’s something particularly nice about it during pregnancy. You’re busy. You’re tired. You probably have seventeen things on your to-do list. A treatment that delivers real, visible results in under an hour, with zero downtime and is a perfect solution for changing skin.
Here’s what our pregnant clients tend to love most:
Hydration. Pregnancy can leave skin feeling parched. HydraFacial helps restore that moisture and leaves your skin noticeably softer.
Clearer skin. The deep cleansing helps remove the buildup and congestion that hormonal breakouts tend to thrive on.
Less puffiness. Facial lymphatic work can do wonders for circulation and swelling — something a lot of women really appreciate in the second and third trimesters.
A moment to breathe. Honestly, sometimes the best part is just lying down in a quiet room for an hour. Pregnancy is demanding, and self-care matters.
Feeling like yourself. This one’s harder to put into words, but it’s real. Pregnancy changes your body in so many ways. Having a treatment that helps you look refreshed and feel confident is genuinely lovely. And if you already have that pregnancy glow going? A HydraFacial glow on top of it doesn’t hurt.
A Little About Our Experience
We’ve been doing HydraFacials for nearly 10 years and have cared for a lot of expecting moms along the way — some who were long-time members wanting to continue their routine through pregnancy, and some who came to us specifically because of new skin concerns they weren’t sure how to handle.
Either way, we sit down with every client, talk through where they are, what they’re noticing, and what makes sense for them. No two pregnancies are alike, and no two treatment plans should be either.
Our team is also supported by our Medical Director, Dr. Marino, who helps us navigate questions that go beyond the treatment room. We take ongoing education seriously, especially when it comes to caring for clients during pregnancy.
So, Should You Book One?
If you’re pregnant and your skin has been giving you a hard time — or you just want a relaxing hour to yourself — a modified HydraFacial might be exactly what you’re looking for.
As always, if you have any concerns, check in with your healthcare provider first. And when you’re ready, we’re happy to walk you through exactly what the treatment would look like for you, answer any questions, and make sure you feel completely comfortable before we start.
Reach out to Collab Medspa to schedule a consultation. You deserve to feel taken care of right now — and we’d love to help with that.
